Can you watch TV wirh ADVC-100?

I'm considering purchasing a Canopus ADVC-100 to replace my WinTV card.

Can someone who has the device tell me if there is support to display real-time on the screen? And even better, can it be inputted to DSCaler?

If you hook it up to a VCR you can plug your cable into the VCR and watch TV that way.

You can watch it, but on the demonstration I saw, you cannot watch it full screen (only in a 720x576 window). That's a limitation of the bundled software.

I don't know if there is any program with that you could watch it full screen.

But, I will surely look into it when it arrives (as I'm using my PC as a multimedia station).

I wouldn't recommend it for TV-viewing. At that price, if you just basically want to watch TV, there are far simpler and cheaper devices that does the job. :)
I doubt it would work with Dscaler. Isn't that only a software for BT chips?

I have been capturing using Vegas Video and also tested Premiere.
I am no expert in these softwares, but in Premiere you get a small (very small) preview window and in Vegas, it is set to 393 x 288 (Display Square Pixels) and you can also select "Stretch Preview To Video" and by selecting that option, I get 709 x 519 with Vegas's window maximized. One can also select "zoom 100%" and get an even larger preview. The video in the preview window looks jerky and bad at that resolution for me. This does not show on the captured files, though. I have an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ and a rather old graphics card (Matrox G450 e TV), maybe with a newer processor and faster graphic card, the preview in 709 x 519 or "zoom 100%" would look smooth. :)

But yes, you do get a decent sized preview window, so you can see what you're doing, with the ADVC-100 and Vegas, Premiere, Ulead VideoStudio and Ulead DVD Workshop. That's the softwares I've tried so far with the ADVC.

Thank you for you replies. No, I don't just want to use the ADVC to watch TV but I do want to use it as part of a HTPC. That means in addition to excellent recording, it also needs to be able to take input for scalint to projector or HDTV output. Hmm... seems like this might not be the solution I'm looking for.
