let me explain :)

i am doing gunbuster and i am just over the dvdr limit using my bitrate (avg 3500). i dont want to chop any off credits as i like the song.

as the last 25-30 mins are in black and white i am hoping that i can do the colour part at the bitrate i used and then lower it for b+w section. this will make whole movie lower size u c. dont mind reencoding again.

i am a noob at anything except the most basic stuff so excuse me if been answered ( i did search though). i read 'getting best out of cce' but i still dont get how to set a certain bitrate for certain parts. if i get a vaf of movie i move to part where it starts b+w i can tell that it needs less bitrate but not sure how to do.:(

Or i could just do whole movie at Avg 3000 kbps but would prefer to get 3500 on colour and 2500-3000 on b+w.

thanks for any poss help.

I think you can use much the same method as the Robshot method to reduce the bitrate, but I am no expert.

Have a look at the Getting the best out of CCE guide at Doom9 and instead of increasing the bitrate reduce it.

Better yet just try that method and see if you can reduce your global bitrate while keeping complex scenes higher.
