Hello everyone!!! I am new at this so please have some patients. I read this forum inside out and i still cant get a working copy of LOTR. Ok this is what I do. I decrypt with DVD Decrypter in File F mode to my hard drive. Then i open up DVD2ONE (Trial version) select the movie and audio and then let it do it;s thing. So far so good. After that i load up PowerDVD and it plays perfectly!!! Here comes the trick. I load Nero and I tried in different ways to burn the dvd. I tried DVD-Rom UDF, i tried DVD-Video but the end results are still chapters and mixed out of order. Somone on the forum said they use nero for all their DVD;s and I followed the instructions, I had no luck. Is there some other burning software i can use instead. I already bought Nero and I really feel I wasted my money. I want to buy DVD2ONE but if I cant get the demo to work, how can I buy the full version. Please help.

Ok now i am confused. I just burned a copy of LOTR from DVD2ONE with RecordMax and i still get the chapters frozen and still. It plays fine on my computer with PowerDVD, but on my standalone player it will not play. I used the same DVD-R to copy Triple X and it works fine on both my computer and standalone player. Whats going on?
Can someone let me know what am I doing wrong? PLEASE!!

Now you're into the quitessential question, "Does my set top player like the DVD-R media I'm using..." The reason I say this is that what you made plays fine on your computer and that skipping/locking are signs of media issues.

Some basic rules of thumb in trying to increase your compatibility odds...

1. Brand name media tend to have greater compatibility than off-brand media. I personally have great luck with TDK DVD-Rs. Buy a few of many brands and experiment until you find one that works with everything you've got, at a price you're willing to pay. I bought some cheapo off-branded stuff which doesn't work at all in my Sony set top and plays, but with a number of skips in my Daewoo set top, so I relegated these discs to data. However, I handed one of my videos to a buddy and his set top player loves them. It's trial and error here.

2. Burning at lower speed increases your compatibility chances. I burn at 1X, even though my burner can handle 2X. I've seen discs burnt at 2X get rejected by my set top players but when I burn it again at 1X using the same brand of media, the disc plays fine.

3. RWs are far less compatible than Rs. I just use RWs to see if what I made works and I test it out on my computer. Don't expect RWs to be a good media for playback on set tops.

Thank you for answering. I am using a DVD-RW but I did use the same disc with Triple X and it worked. I will try burning at 1x and try using a DVD-R. Like I said it works fine on my computer but not on my player. Thanks again!!

Ok now i did a really good check of what is going on when i burn the DVD's. I first want to say that i did use different brand name DVD-R's. I used the same brand name for two different movies. Triple X and Lord of The Ring. I used DVD Decrypter for both movies with same settings. Only difference is that Triple X did not go through DVD2ONE cause it fits on the DVD-R. So after burning with Nero at 1x for both movies, the results are that the movie done with DVD2ONE does not work. It works on the computer but not on my standalone ( Sony). I tried with different DVD-R's and at different speeds but same results. Is there maybe a setting that i need to change in DVDDecrypter or Nero. I really tried everything that is on this forum. I am sorry to be such a pain but I would really like to buy the DVD2ONE software cause i read so many wonderfull things about it, and cause it is easy to use. Someone please help.

Hello again, i could'nt resist and i bought the software (DVD2ONE)
It solved all my problems. For some reason i am able to burn DVD-R's with Nero with no problem. All i did was decrypt with DVDDecrypter and then load up DVD2ONE. I let it do it's thing and then i open Nero and I find that if I use Nero Express it does the DVD with no problem. I am very happy that i got the software. Message to all of you that are not sure if you should get it. Beleive me I really can say that it is the tool you need. I just finished burning Lord of The Ring Extended version and it look perfect. Big thanks goes to the people that gave me a lot of help on this forum, and a big thanks goes to the people that keep this forum up without the forum i would'nt have been able to get where i am now. Thanks again!!!!!!!!

either there is a bug fixed with the pay for version, or its a problem with the limited encode time, or its a intentional 'feature' (i doubt its the last one, but i wont rule it out), but its good to see that you have fixed that problem.

arenavles, could you describe the problem you were experiencing in a little more detail please?, it might help others in the future, and i am wondering exactly where the problem is. (im guessing something to do with the way the stream was put back into the video_ts set)

Ok, the was as follows. I tried this with two different movies (Triple X and Lord of The Ring). I used DvdDecrypter to rip both movies in File mode. After i took Triple X and burned the DVD to a DVD-RW (Pioneer) and played perfect on computer and stand alone player (Sony). I took the ripped LOTR and then put it through DVD2ONE. I selected as shown on the web-site, the three steps (directory where the movie is and destination I make sure that it is C:\VIDEO_TS)(select the main feature,audio, subtitle and angle. I let DVD2ONE do it's thing. When the process is done i load up Nero and put it in Express mode. I then load the files that DVD2ONE created and burn at 1x speed. It works like a charm and the quality is perfect.

Sorry for the poor explanation, i am at work and can't write too much now but i will post my step by step guide to burn with nero. Tonight i will post it!! Thanks again!!!!

I am very impressed with this program. I have been down the dvd9 to dvd5 route, successfully splitting over two discs. I have tried re-encoding with ReMPEG2 and IFOedit 95 etc, to one disc, again with good results apart from the time involved. I have tried most of the Guides out there, and most of the programs. This download runs to 92.0kb, and after stripping ALIENS, file mode (make sure under settings you disable multi angle processing), file size was 5.99gb. Process time was 20min 28secs, using AMD 1800, 1gb Ram. Ended up with a file size of 4.36gb, burnt to 4x Datawrite DVD-R media, using GEAR Pro 6.02 Mastering Edition & Sony external dru-500. Works perfectly. I have compared the copy with the original on a new 36” Toshiba widescreen, and was hard pressed to see any loss of quality. Disc runs on Wharfedale M5, ex wife"s machine, a Philips & LG model.

Hello Friends. I am fairly new (20 disks) to the DVD backup arena, but I've had my share of disappointments, primarily by ReMPEG. I run a brand new P4 Dell with a NEC burner and it takes 16 hours to re-encode a 2 hour movie with ReMPEG. I am using the full version of DVD2ONE now and get a result in 40 mins w XP, versus 16 hours with ReMPEG. W/ ReMPEG I got blocks, stills, jams and twitches (my own terminology for crappy playback). Now that I'm using DVD2ONE for transcoding everything is beautiful! I must mention that I am a videophile and I do notice some degradation from a DVD9 original but not significantly worse than ReMpeg conversion. This product is so worth the $40 USA. Friends, you will be using this product soon, unless you like the combat of ReMPEG. By the way, if your using CCE the same goes for you. I've tried it too. Don't ask me to explain anything technical, I'm new, and sometimes a new perspective can do a world of good.
