I'm sure DVD2SVCD's idea will be fantastic, well worth supporting. What gets me is how can people pony up $99 for dvdxcopy plus and then complain about it's limited functionality but can't pony up a $20 or so donation for free software. Heck you can buy dvdxcopy for $74 at newegg but aren't entitled to free upgrades. DVD2SVCD has never charged nor will charge. Side note: best of luck getting the sony. I ordered one on Oct 3, 2002 ...finally cancelled and ordered external firewire one instead Dec 3, 2002. My ETA is now mid February. I'd say the masses will start using DVD burners once the $199 Lite-on 4X DVD Burners (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news2.php3?ID=5066) come out in Summer 2003.

Wow, that dvd recorder from lite-on is music to my ears, maybe at that time I'll consider buying one dvd recorder :D.

now that you mention it, i finally got around to donating my $20, and I hope you all will consider doing similar! I couldn't have said it any better than mr bass did above :)
[ramble mode on]
about the dvd burner. I was lucky enough to get the sony dru500a. However, if that lite-on comes out at 4x I would spring for that one. The most annoying thing about this sony drive is that ripping speed is "capped" at 2x. It takes around 45-50 minutes on average to rip a dvd which reminds me of my ancient dvd rom drive. I'm sure the lite-on will rip much faster. Then again, maybe sony's will be better quality. Good luck finding one though..
[end ramble mode]
anyways, thanks again D2S for such a great program :)

@ onesoul : that was a very unpleasent coment.... here at least it would have been nice of you to support the main thread idea but not as most of users the " me me me " sindrome is present!
ppl here the game is giving and taking if WE give nothing we will get nothing ! if we give ALL a litle contribution, the overturn i think and i am sure will be HUGE.

I think it is crazy to read people's comments about "considering donating". Look at the amount of traffic on this forum. The number of users of this free software. I used god knows how many POS programs to get what I wanted and it ended up that DVD2SVCD and DVDDecrypter (both free) were the best programs out there.
If you add up all of the other software out there that runs as shareware or "purchase-ware", You could spend a fortune and still not get the functionality and easy of DVD2SVCD and DVDDecryter.
These guys not only need and want our support. They DESERVE it.
