Capturing AVIs in PAL land.
My intention is to convert to SVCD, so should I capture in 704x576 (full size) or 480x576 (svcd pal) or save HD space and capture at 352x288?
Thanks

PAL SVCD has 480x576.
So this is the resolution of choice, and will allow for highest encoding speed (capturing in a higher resolution may have advantages, but your encoding session will get slower, because you have to resize back to 480x576 first)

I agree with DJ Bobo, I just want to add that if you intend to filter the video in any way, you should use the 704x576 and resize back to 480x576. Just make sure your capture card doesn't resize from 704x to 480x when you select that width, because if that's the case then you are definitely better off if you capture at 704x
