VFAPI problem...

I just ran into a problem. I'm in the process of trying out the 5.03 divx codec, but for some reason the VFAPI codec is throwing a fit. I've never had any problems with it before, in fact I just made use of it less than a week before the problem started. Here's what happens:

I ripped a DVD (one that I own :D ) and made a DVD2AVI project the same way I always do. I load the project into the VFAPI reader to make the pseudo AVI file. I try to load that into VirtualDub...no good. I get an error message that VDub can't determine the file type. I try to play the VFAPI AVI file using ZoomPlayer, again I get an error message about unable to create filters.

So any thoughts? I'm about to flush my system and start freash, but I'd really rather not.

Ditch VFAPI and use AVIsynth. It is not that much harder and it is massively faster than VFAPI. It suprises me the number of people still using VFAPI.;)

Okay, could you direct me to a guide that shows me how to do this? Do I need to de-multiplex the VOB files and then used an AVISynth script? I've been experimenting with the AVS scripts, but i'm not too familiar with them.
