I have no idea why or when it started happening, but whenever I go to double-click a SVCD MPG my Explorer crashes. Everytime. If I double-click real fast I can play the MPG and 1 out of 10 times it won't crash.
I'm using XP.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like there's something wrong with the preview window, you could try updating internet explorer, because i believe it's loosely tied into windows explorer on that feature. If I recall, there's also some flukey item you can remove from the registry to help alleviate many of those problems but i don't remember the name of the tweak and i lost the bookmark when i switched back to 2k :( Good luck.
edit:
try this if the first option doesn't work:

edit2:
there's also this although i believe that pertains to avi files
remove

Setting folder options to 'preview off' should solve that problem ..

I did just that and got rid of &L in the shortcuts to play MPGs.
Seems to do the trick.
Thanks guys
EDIT: Nope, still didn't work!
