Have had a method of backing up working for a while now [thanx to Doom9] but have come across this problem often. Here is a snapshot from Maestro after importing a demuxed ac3 and a cce re-encode:

Notice that the duration of the video is shorter by about .07 (hundreths or thousanths?) of a second... I have tried this title before, Bloodwork, and the difference was a lot larger last time.

The last time I burned it, I noticed in some parts audio was out of sync... very annoying, but I was looking very hard for this.

In other titles I have done the assets were never exactly the same duration, always off by NO MORE than .05 seconds and no sync issues occured.

Is there any reason why this happens? If so, how can I correct it?

TIA

The CCE encoded output has less frames than the original at the end, on account of DVD2AVI. The practical significance of this is zero, unless the last few frames of the video stream matter.

If the audio is longer than the video then the last few frames of the audio are left out by Maestro. Again, shouldn't matter.

If the audio is out of sync in parts but resyncs, then I'd think that would be due to something else - e.g it's like that in the original, or the standalone is playing up.

You appear to have a PAL release, have you adjusted for the audio delay correctly?

I'm pretty sure it was NTSC as I am in Toronto.

heh, yes I made a mistake, not sure why I thought it was PAL, there's no indication of that ;)
