View Full Version : divX 5.03 playback doesn't work in MPC or normal WMP, but in VirtualDub?

I'm starting to feel pretty stupid. But after installing DivX 5.03 Pro Ad I couldn't play the encoded videos.

In MPC and WMP I get a split sec of garbage, then the one or other macroblock, and the rest is black. The funny thing is, in VirtualDub I see the encoded video.

Maybe it has something to do with the priority of the installed codecs (there may be a conflict with another codec or something).

Try uninstalling DivX Pro 5.0.2 (it was left installed on mine, so I went back and uninstalled it, then uninstalled 5.0.3). Then just reinstall 5.0.3. If that doesn't work, make sure all the options are unchecked in the DivX Decoder Configuration (Smooth Playback, Overlay, etc.). Also, make sure ffdshow isn't checked for DivX5 playback, if applicable.

After deinstalling FFDShow and FFVfWCodec and divX5.03 I reinstalled divX and at least have video now in Windows Media Player, but still not in Media Player Classic.

But it gets better. :)

I have a similar problem. On my system the playback works on my previous movies. Today I installed Avisynth 2.5 beta, I made some tests and the files encoded in DivX 5.03 have a lot of wrong colors in Delta frames (P or B). If I play that file in Windows Media Player it shows wrong colors in some areas. If I open it in Vdub the colors are ok.
I thought it was the YV12 color space, so I tried using VdubMod and I got the some problem, but with some different colors (wrong).
I tried inserting "converttoyuy2" so it should work ... nothing to do.

So the problem is not due to YV12, but to the DivX decoder, isn't it?
I updated the 5.02 with 5.03, should I uninstall them and reinstall from 5.03? Or is it the ffdshow? How do I configure FFDSHOW?

Solution found for mine and yours problem!

Just install the new FFDSHOW alpha from sourceforge and many problems go away.
