I've tried unsuccessfully for a month now to rip & reencode a 2' 15" dvd using dvd dycrypter, smartripper (doesn't work on w98) ifoedit, dvd2avi, rempeg2, bitrate calculators, tempgenc, vobedit, spruceup 1106, vfapi, and on...

I just can't make it come together....my question...can you really convert a dvd9 to a dvd5 using windows 98?

If so, which software allows you to achieve this marvellous goal?

I've tried a number of guides and just can't get it together...

I have been humbled to the extreme.

I thank anyone with insight.

the genral rule is that you need to have window 2000 or Xp with ntfs system running ,however I read a post the otherday that said it can be done as the files are genrally limited to under 4 GB so there wont be a conflict, even your m2v file is genrally under 4Gb when finished transcoding , I dont use W98 I use XP with NTFS structure, do a search to see if you come up with any thing

this isn't the perfect solution, but one that could get you by on win98

try this new prog dvd2one

it just deals with the vob files - so you can use dvd decrypter in file mode
