View Full Version : NTSC source - How to treat ?

I have ripped a DVD (an adult movie, which I bought) and I am trying to convert it to DivX.

I am using Gknot 2.7 and VirtualDubMod(latest).

DVD2AVI (ver 1.76) Reports my DVD to be

Video Type: NTSC
Frame Type: Interlaced
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
Frame Rate: 29.97

After reading a zilion of guides, tutorials, info etc etc...I am still wondering and unable to make all the blurring (when someone walks, fast moving etc) disappear. I tried avisynth using bob, fielddeinterlace etc etc..the guides at 100fps, nickys guides..

Am I missing something ?

Did you read the IVTC Tutorial (http://www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm) on Doom9's website? Most likely your source has been TELECINED and you are trying to deinterlace it when you should be performing IVTC.

If you're still having troubles after reading this, or anything doesnt make sense, we'll try and help you out some more.

Actually, most of that stuff is not Telecined, as it isn't shot on film, it's shot on video tape.

In that case, merely turn on Field Deinterlacing. It's slower than "Fast Deinterlacing" but produces much higher quality.

The differences are discussed in the tutorial.

I read everything! I tried all combinations for IVTC with no noticable diferences in the outout. I ended up with this

Convolution3d (preset="movieHQ")

anything you think I should add ?

well, seeing as how i dont watch nor rip 'that stuff' I wouldnt know. I just assumed that these were filmed the same way and that he was having a problem with inverse telecine.
