While I'm waiting on some test results concerning subtitle problems with DVD2SVCD I've been working on my Buffy encoding settings again and so far I seem to be getting fairly good results on VBR x 4 at 2500 kbit max. (rest is used for 2 audio and 2 subtitle streams).
However, what still bugs me is that in several scenes people's faces tend to get blurry for a moment even though there isn't much of a camera movement involved. Comparing these scenes to high action scenes like the intro-credits of Buffy with very fast cuts ameks me wonder what could cause these.
I've uploaded 2 small samples of the same episode
5-12-90-a.avi (3.6 MB) (http://chetwood.netfirms.com/5-12-90-a.avi)
5-12-90-b.avi (6.1 MB) (http://chetwood.netfirms.com/5-12-90-b.avi)
Unfortunately I haven't been able to extract them as mpeg2 from the mpv-file generated by CCE 2.50. Virtualdub did allow me only to extract to avi, still the result is very close to the original so you can still see those blurry effects without the divx codec having evened it out.
So my question: why is it that there are some slow movement scenes that get pixelated?
P.S.
In case you think this rather belongs in the CCE-forum please move it there. I thought it was appropriate here since I'm using it from DVD2SVCD with it's standard settings.
