I recently tried creating a 352x288 SVCD with optional (CVD)subtitles (using DVD2SVCD v1.1.0 build 1c). Works okay, however the subtitles are positioned too low on the screen and only half the upper subtitle line is visible.
Anyone else experienced problems with this or is it my DVD-player (Hitachi DV-P505E) that is causing the problems?

I had this problem recently too. The reason was that my DVD player was set on PAL, but the movie I was playing was a NTSC. When I set the player to NTSC (or auto) everything worked.

The SVCD I tried was actually in PAL and I used the PAL option, I doubt that I have to switch to NTSC mode on my DVD player to correctly play a PAL SVCD?

I have also noticed this problem with the current version of DVD2SVCD. I'm using Pal movies and the standalone (a Daewoo 2200K)
is set accordingly. I reported the problem in http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=233794#post233794
@dvd2svcd
Have you checked if the computation of the subtitle Ypos (for PAL movies) in 1.1.0 build 1c is the same as in 1.0.9 B3 version?
I guess that some players have problems displaying subs that are positioned too low on the screen.

Right, the subs are displayed about 30 scanlines lower in 1.1.0, I have fixed that in the unreleased version, please take this into account when you position the subs.

@dvd2svcd
Please consider fixing the following minor bug: When several subs are selected only the type of the first one appears quoted in the subtitle info section of the 'svcdinfo.txt' file.

So can anyone tell me what the safe margin is for NTSC movies with perm. subtitles in addition to Y-pos?
Thanx in advance!
