Many people do not seem to understand the basic concepts of the assets they work with and the terminology used to describe them. This presents the biggest problem when we try to explain (both here and on IRC), how these items are supposed to be created in Scenarist such that they resemble the original structure. I've added a tip in my "Tips and Tricks" section (http://dvdguides.trilight.net) that includes color-coded pictures of each. Hopefully it will help make more sense of how the items in the IFO correlate to their positions in Scenarist.

Well thank you, this is very interesting and self-explanatory.
I'm planning to give scenarist a try some day (maestro for the moment) so I think this kind of info will prove useful.

You're both welcome. :) I'm glad some people find it useful in this day and age of people only interested in "movie only" backups. ;)

I for one would certainly welcome more information on 'from scratch' authoring. We do almost exclusively DV format to DVD productions of original material/performances here and with a program this capable, there are numerous ways to produce a viewable DVD, but fewer ways to produce a viewable DVD that also meets specs and enables other important features viewers have come to expect.
Keep the tutorials coming!
