What's the difference as far as quality between re-mpeg2 and CCE? I am just doubtful, :confused:

you only have to watch a rempeg and then a CCE done with the same movie and you could easily tell that CCE is better plus it cost about £2.5K and rempeg which cost £0

CCE is better by far. You asked for quality only,

First of all CCE and ReMPEG2 have totally different concepts.

CCE is a fast (and expensive) encoder. I wouldn't say it's good just because it costs much, but it has proven to be one of the best MPEG-2 encoders around. It's fed with decompressed images and creates an MPEG-2 stream.

ReMPEG2 is an MPEG-2 to MPEG-2 transcoder. It does not do a full re-encode like CCE, but only a partial re-encode while using some of the information already present in the source MPEG-2 stream. Because of its nature it's not slow, although I guess it could be optimized by much (see DVD2one). Unfortunately ReMPEG2 is known to have some issues, so I wouldn't really recommend using it.

For those interested in speed, IMHO, i would advise DVD2one.
I have it and, in spite of CCE being the better software regarding quality, DVD2one is VERY fast (and MUCH cheaper), and with also good (but not excelent) quality. It softs the image a little.

Thanks everybody for their feedback. I thought CCE was better in quality and also in speed. I just wanted to be sure 100%. :D :D :)
