How do I do?

I have a Creative Audigy Platinum card, but only a 2-speaker system connected... When I open a file with 5.1 audio I don't get ANY sound at all?? I really expected the sound card to be "smart enough" to downsample it to 2-channel audio since that's what it's set to.

Can anyone please shed some light here?

Anders.

The card itself is not doing the downsampling, but rather playback filter. Are you playing in a software DVD player (WinDVD, PowerDVD)? Or in something like Windows Media Player? Make sure your soundcard is not setup for SPDIF pass-through, as it outputs a digital signal, which is not played back by the speakers.

If you're watching the video in WMP (or any media player), download the AC3Filter for playback http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter/.

Thanx!

It can be almost from anything I guess.. Although I haven't tried a DVD yet, only from .ogg files in BS Player. When playing DVD's I have bought Intervideo WinDVD Platinum, it should be able to take care of it... And no, the audio card is set to analog only, 2 speakers.
