Hi,
I was practising a bit with this movie and when using DoItFastForYou to demux titleset 1, I had the surprise of getting two identical m2v files in twi different PGCs, each containing the whole movie. One is named VTS__01_P01_1.M2V and the other "VTS_01_PGC_02_1 - 0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 - 720x576 (PAL) - 16~9 - Letterboxed.M2V".
They seem absolutely identical at playback so I wonder what this means. Any expert out there to help me ? I've searched through the forum and found very little information about this kind of issue (but maybe I searched on wrong words, so...)
Any idea ?

A qualified guess would be that the DVD contains both the Pan & Scan-version (the first file) and the Widescreen-version (the second file) of the movie.

As I said both m2v files are identical. They are both letterboxed and absolutely identical.
Sorry, but your guess is not qualified ;)
Any other idea ?

This is almost certainly a sign that you have two PGCs that reference the same cells. The difference is one PGC probably has a different audio track (like commentary??) DoItFastForYou does not yet take into account this common arrangement.
This is all explained in http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43105

You are correct in what you are saying both PGC’s are identical, normally only the second PGC is used for playback, the first one is ignored, if you use IFOUpdate this only changes the first PGC and the disc wont play correctly, what you have to do is create two PGC’s when you re-author, if you are using Maestro just add a playlist and include all chapters, with Scenarist just copy the track twice into the title.
If you don’t have Scenarist or Maestro the job can’t be done.
You need to read and study those IFO’s once you understand them the job’s easy..

Well, thanks for your help,
I finally decided to author it as movie only (yeah yeah I know, I'm lazy, but I didn't have time). I imported video stream from PGC2 in maestro, along with AC3 audio stream and subtitles and chapters extracted from PGC 2 (DOitFastForyou wouldn't extract any subpictures nor chapters from PGC 1, although IFOedit showed they exist !).
Anyway, reauthoring all this stuff worked great, just did it the good old way in Maestro, everything's fine.
thanks for your help.
I'll have to reconsider this kind of DVD later on, since there are obviously things I don't fully understand.

Hi All
I have had a look at this, and it seems that the two tracks are different versions of the same film. They are slightly different in length and have different chapter points. The Bonus menu has an entry titled "Extended Version in enhanced viewing mode". When I rip both PGCs, the two M2V files are about 3.6Gig each, but the entire VTS set is only 4.4Gig. So I am not sure if the two steams are independant or if one stream uses parts of the other.
Anyone got any tips on scaning the IFO to figure this out?

I tried this "extended version" and it appears it adds a cut sequence at the very beginning of the movie, which absolutely does not appear in none of the 2 PGCs we are talking about. I still find these completely identical from a "movie" point of view. Looks like they had 2 versions of chaptering, and finally didn't clean before mastering...

Hi
In the Bonus menu, I think there was an entry about extra scenes.
I think the enhanced version is the film with these scenes in, not
sure though.
I re-encoded the 12 PGC extras at 2200bps and did the VTS01 PGC1
film at 3000 (2pass VBR). I used Scenerist and just copied the
film twice to make two PGC's and all seems to work. The only thing
is you get the normal film when you select the enhanced film, but
hay the whole thing is 4.2Gig, works for me!
Minority Report was a bit of a ^%&^%&! Damm dummy VOB Cell at the
start of the film. Get rip of that with VOB edit and it all worked.
I need a better program to detect Field order. DVD2DVDR and
Bitrate Viewer report everything as top field first when it isn't.

Is this "multiple PGC" thing any issue for me when I only rip in Ifo mode the PGC which DVDDecrypter offers me with its initial selection?
