View Full Version : Very Very Strange Behavior (Burning on Sony DRU-500A)

I have Nero Express 5.5.10.0 as well as RecordNow 4.50 [450B28a.350 (SNV)]. When I burn a video using the VOB's and IFO's, in NeroExpress, it almost always gets a verification error. Now, after burning probably 20-30 discs, I am having problems with RecordNow. If I try to create a "Data Disc" by writing the "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS" directories I get an error "There was a problem writing to the disc. You can try again ..." The "Explain" button says that the disc is dirty or to try a different manufacturers disc. This only occurs when the VOB's and IFO's are in the VIDEO_TS directory. If I move the VOB's, etc. out of the VIDEO_TS directory and write the empty VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories and the VOB's/IFO's (which are now NOT in the VIDEO_TS) the write is fine (did this to make sure that the everything would fit on the disc.) Move them back to the VIDEO_TS and the write gets the error again. Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated.

When I first installed RecordNow MAX I got that error all the time.
I have no idea why it started working.
The only thing I did was change the case of the directory names to lower case and burned those. After that I erased the DVD-RW and changed the case by to all caps and from that point on it's worked perfect. I only did the case change once, I don't do it each time.

I don't understand it, but I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth.

BTW I only use the Data wizard as I read somewhere that there is a problem if you do it manually.

I had the same problem. It's one of two things, either your missing the VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.BUP, or you have a VIDEO_*_0.IFO or VIDEO_*_BUP missing. You may also have an IFO file but no .VOB files for the IFO. All of those will cuase the problem your saying, for nero and RecordNow.

Hope this helps

Try completely uninstalled Nero. I've had problems like that when multiple burning software has been installed.

Hi everyone,

Anyone knows if there is any way of putting the Primo DVD 2.0 working with the new Sony DRU-500A ??

Probably not , right? ;(

Thanks,

Fenix.

Thanks for all your help. What was confusing me was that I was using Ifo_edit to do some movie massaging. Based upon what I was doing, sometimes it didn't copy all the IFO and/or BUP files. That was why sometimes the burn would work and sometimes it didnt and the error message is of no help to determine the problem.

For what its worth, I DL'd the RecordNow MAX 30 day eval and it is MUCH better than the RecordNow that comes with the Sony. After the 30 days, I will probably buy it ...

Thanks again,

Jim
