Hi.

I have just installed the latest version of GKnot and I see a disclaimer about not using any other ripping software apart from the ones included in the package. However, I have some un-encoded movies on my hard drive that were ripped using SmartRipper 2.40. Can I use those movies with the latest version of GKnot ?

And anyways, is it such a problem for me to use SmartRipper instead of DVD Decrypter from now on ? I am used to working with it and I don't feel like learning new things... ;)

Thanks in advance.

Yes.

No.

Me too. I recognize that DVDDecrypter has overtaken SmartRipper and is the superior ripper now, but just as you, iparout, I'm set in my ways and save DVDDecrypter for those "problem rips" that SR can't handle. Just don't do anything stupid like try and use the .d2v that SR 2.41 makes for you.

Yes, I already know that the .d2v file from SR 2.41 shouldn't be used, that's why I haven't updated the program and I am still using version 2.40.

Thanks for the help.

I have used both SmartRipper with Gknot 0.26 and the new DVDDecrypter included with Gknot 0.27.. i find both programs basically similiar and very easy to use.. i see no major advantage with one program over the other...

I'm not sure why Gknot now comes bundled with DVDDecrypter instead of SmartRipper ,which was quite capable of copying the VOB's

:D
