Playing QuickTime without the player??

Is there any Quicktime codec avalible so i can play quicktime without installing the Quicktime player??

The short answer is no as far as I know. A bit like Real Media.
I read somewhere that QT6 files are fairly MPEG4-ISO compatible and if renamed to *.mp4 will play in a mp4 player (e.g. MPEGIP (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Players/MPEG4IP.MPEG4.Player-0.9.7.4.rar) player)
Not sure. Never got a chance to test.

what do you mean like real media?? I can play Real Media files in MPC though...

The newest version of Real Media can play Quicktime files if you have installed Quicktime, because it doesn't include the codec with it.

sorry.... what do you mean? You mean the newest version od RealONE can play Quicktime files with Quicktime Player installed.
I know that since codec for quicktime is installed together with Quicktime player. But i am wondering if there is anyway to download quicktime codec only without installing the player.

I will try rename my file to mp4 tonight and see if mpec4ip and play it.

Somehow that's like using a crappier player to avoid using a crappy one. :D
