The only facility i really miss in it is a complete Timer
[halfway already done: with 'capture duration:hh,mm' and
'Quit the application' (after capture done)], i'm only
craving for the 'Start capture at:hh,mm'...

It would then approach very close to perfection.

Yes, an internal timer would be great. The timed captures using the Windows scheduler are not very user-friendly. And I miss a shutdown option as well.

As I'm one of the MJPEG capture guys: Do you think it would be possible to add a fast denoiser like in VirtualDub, so I could denoise during capture before the video gets encoded?

What I would like to see is a secondary application that creates sheduled tasks for you. It would be like some sort of program guide of your sheduled tasks. So that my gf would able to program her favorite shows with your program :)

Can You use deinterlacer before encoding? I assume that it must be directshow compatible and fast (optimized) of course.

But one thing:
how can I make av-sync to be correct when using resample-option? I found out that the sound doesn't drift off the audio like it drifts when not using resample-option. However avi has constant off-sync starting right the beginning of the file, when playing it in bsplayer / WMP.

But when I opened the avi in v-dub, audio was in sync. So v-dub somehow detects something that bsplaer doesn't. Also the sound was in sync after compressing it in v-dub to mp3 and then played the avi in bsplayer.

Also, when tried v-dub_sync (it is a mod that also uses audio-resample) avi was in sync in bsplayer (without compressing audio). It seems that v-dub_sync inserts somekind delay-info to avi. I tried 'delay offset correction' (don't remember correctly) in virtual vcr too, but it doesn't affect anyhow.

I am trying to use this app with my Canopus ADVC-50 card. And I get an error that says "Cannot set video format: E_FAIL"

Anyone know what this means or know if it will work for this card?

Author, 'maudeling' about the scheduling missing part.

I feel my duty now is to advertise that thanks to MDunn & Leon Cheong
VirtualVCR already has its own Scheduling application.

It's called VirtualVDR now. And yes, it's a very good program - I've been using it for my captures for a few months now.

Edit: Ooops, I got confused with another proggie having the same name (which has been renamed to VirtualVDR for that very reason...). So please forget this post.

I had problems the last time I tried any wdm capture program.

With this new version, if you capture something and load it in vdub and choose frame rate, does the 'frame rate' field and 'change so audio and video durations match' hold the same value? Every capture program I've used fail this test except avi_io. Just curious at the state of wdm capture programs.

There is such an application called "Virtual VCR Scheduler" and can be found at:-

It has many features and can shut down too, i would be lost without it.You will need to have a user password if using windowsxp otherwise scheduled tasks won't work.

I too would like to know how to keep AV synch, especially without changing the frame rate.Resample audio keeps the correct framerate but synch is lost after abot 30mins, usually with the audio behind.Using audio delay does not fix it.It will put the clip in synch at the end but put it out at the begining.

The only way i can keep synch is if i have the audio as master and use 44.1khz pcm, this way AVsynch is kept but the frame rate changes.If i use 48khz pcm AVsynch is lost but can be corrected with an audio delay.

VDub_Synch on the other hand keeps perfect synch every time.I only wish there was such a schedule application for it :(

I've got a problem with Virtual VCR

Whenever I start it up, I get no audio, but I can get audio by going to settings, devices, second video crossbar, then changing output to video decoder out, and then input to audio tuner in, I get audio and everything is perfect

But..if I close it and re-open it, I get no audio..I have tried saving settings and saving profile but it doesn't help. This really sucks because if I try to schedule something to record I don't get any audio.

Can anyone try to help?

Check your sound card driver. Also, see that no other sound card related program is running.
