those are awesome ripping speeds. what firmware are you currently running and is that (120s) a burner or player? Also I wonder what you would get on a dvd(5) as they are usually faster given that it is easier to read single layers. Do youo have a dvd5 that is not encrypted? and also not a -r(w)/+r(w)

The 120 is a player only. As to the firmware, it's whatever it was when I bought it - it's unchanged.

Just 4U, I found an unencrypted DVD-5....

Wait for it, wait for it.....

Average 10.6x. Peak 15.1x

That seems to prove your theory nicely. :-)

Oh wait, this is the very first time I have been right, now I am getting confused, what do I do next.........:scared:

hehe, usually when you open up a recording application it tells you which firmware you have. I would love to know because the speeds you are getting are incredible and I am GOING to buy that drive as soon as I find out if I can get it with the same firmware you have....

It is rated at 16x off-the-shelf. But alas, it appears you only get that from unencrypted DVD-5's around the outer edges.

Maybe we should petition the firmware guys to bring an unlocked one out for this drive.

When thier is a locked firmware on a drive it is usually a 2x limit. When you get above that thier is little a firmware upgrade will do. But to get peak speeds of 11x on dvd9 is awesome. I only get up to 8.5x with hacked A05.

I'm getting a 'page not found' at the dmafix.exe download link posted by la_Nce01. Is this tool available somewhere else?

Damn i tried both ways and neither worked:

-uninstalling secondary chan ( 2 dvd drives )
-deleting the reg strings manually

i even uninstalled primary chan, nothing :/
the link to the dmadix made by the bored guy ;p is borken ! someone post it again plz.

my pioneer 105 dvd-r burner still damn reading at 2x, peak like 2.2x
my pioneer 106 dvd does a little better at like 3x

this sux, my new burner gona blow up soon with the heat, as it takes 50 min to rip a dvd9 using dvdcrypter.
dvdxcopy 1.5.2 and nero6 show same slow performance.

First I thought it was an aspi problem. anyway still 2x damn it !

Sorry to revive this thread, but seems like the best possibility.
New version of dma-fix, GPL'ed

Installer (http://files.hof-vat.com/dmafix/dmafix_inst.exe)
Source code (delphi) & NSIS setup script (http://files.hof-vat.com/dmafix/dmafix-0.1-source.zip)

Note: If you just want to use this tool, you'll just need the installer. Should save you some hassles.

Anybody ever figure out what does that German Error actually signify?

'Fehler beim Holen der Daten fur "primary"'

DMAfix.exe does not work on my computer--it just spits out this error and then continues as a process in the background without doing anything.

For some reason I have two Primary IDE and two Secondary IDE entries. I have two hard drives sitting on the Primary IDE, a SATA HD on one of the SATA interfaces and a CD-RW as well as a DVD+RW on the secondary IDE. I surmise that the second Primary IDE is for the SATA. What does the second Secondary IDE guy doing there?

Finally, I have 9! (0000 through 0008 plus \Properties) entries in the registry where I am supposed to delete entries:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\

How do I figure which one to delete? BTW, only 0004 and 0005 have CheckSum Error entries, which simplifies the question...

Thanks

I am running administrator as well ... with no luck so far. Had to reinstall the drivers and that fixed the slowdown.

Sry, didn't check back for a while.
Try to delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\dmafix2'.
