Hello

Got a question. In many movies, there are a black bar over and under the movie, often the size of this is about 50% of the whole picture.
Does this mean that the bars take about 50% of the bitrate? (if you know what i mean).
Or how is it?

Is there a way to get over this?

Not enough to make any kind of difference.

Remember, this is the DVD2SVCD forum. DivX (MPEG-4) is not very good at compressing large blocks of static color whereas MPEG-2 is.

I also forgot to add that if you are playing the SVCD on a 4:3 TV and you don't have one of those very rare DVD players that supports anamorphic SVCD's you have no choice anyway.
