audio question for capturing from vhs

when i capture from vhs to mpg, i tend to get only one side of the speakers [the right one only]. when i playback the mpg on my computer, i get sounds from all speakers. when i burn the mpg files to vcd format and play them on a dvd play, i sometimes get all sound and sometimes just from one speaker.

anyone knows what the problem is? i've plugged everything in correctly and securely. my video card is ati all in wonder 8500dv. i just use the standard software that came with the card to capture.

please let me know if there are any solutions. thanks. :)

Sound like you have a 'Wackelkontakt', that means a bad contact in your plug or a broken audio cable with only one channel working. If your mpg decoder is set to mono, you'll hear the sound from both speakers. If you make a stereo vcd of it, it comes only from on side.

Try another cable and see if that works. You should hear the sound from both sides, even while capturing.

thanks!!! i tried capturing with new wires and i get sound from all speakers. i checked my old wires and saw that they were a little damaged. :D
