Doom9's article "How to make your DVD-ROM region free" says: "The drive currently has firmware version 1015 so you should download the patched firmware 1015, not any other."
DriveInfo told me that I have a Liteon LTD-163 GH5E. But I am not sure, if it was the firmware GH5E. I went to http://www.firmware.fr.st and downloaded the firmware GH5S, because GH5E was not available anymore, forgetting that I have to use the same firmware! Sh§$ Now I have a drive that is JLMS XJ-HD163 GH5S ! Put a CD, because I do not have a DVD available at the moment, and it works!
My question is: Is it possible to get my old firmware back, the firmware before I patched the drive - something like a reset button - you know what I mean!
Because I found a nice working free utility called RPC Switch 0.6 at http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/dvds/rpcde2.zip , which works really nice with my Liteon drive! So, I do not need a patched firmware anymore! Is it possible that a DVD drive works bad, if you run it with patched firmware? Thanks in advance for your responses!
