i have a m2v that is a widescreen version of the movie and i would like to reduce the black lines on the top and bottom so instead of fitting a 4:3 tv it will properly fit my 16:9 tv. hoping someone could tell me the propper values to add to my crop(?,?,720,480).

and off topic... but what effects in a video are refered to as "noise"?

One possibility is BilinearResize(720,480).Crop(0,60,720,360)

The only sure thing about noise is that it interferes with compressability. Some noise enhances the picture and others detract from it. There's analog domain noise and digital noise. Unfortunately, your question cannot be answered fully, because noise is too broad a topic to tackle.

Being super pendantic and taking an extreme example, techically the quantization noise is noise, making anything coming out of an analog-to-digital converter 100% noise. This means anything that can be stored on a computer is all noise.

My advice is explain what you really mean by 'noise'. I have been illustrating how broad a topic noise really is without coming out and saying what I think you should do. The more experienced members among us probably prefer to respond to topics with a narrower scope.
