Hi, I would like to encode an Xvid movie with full 720x480 anamorphic resolution. If I do this, how can I make sure that when I play it on my 21" monitor (at 1024x768) I will enjoy the extra anamorphic resolution ?. Which player should I use in order to do that, and what aspect ratio should I choose ?. If the movie's original aspect ratio is 2.35:1, then on my 1024x768 monitor resolution I should get 435 lines of vertical resolution (which are more than the 306 which I would have gotten if I didn't go with an anamorphic rip).

I do this occasionally, most often for short featurettes or trailers.

If you elect to go unresized, pick a player that can alter aspect ratio to 4:3 or 16:9, such as Zoomplayer or BSPlayer. I prefer the latter.
