I have just reauthored one of my DVDs to practise my skills in reauthoring and I am facing a strange problem
The main movie has 5 PGCs and I reauthored all of them individually in scenarist.
When I ripped the DVD with DVD decryptor in IFO mode, I have a set of files for each PGCs, subtitles included. The subtitles files have the .SUB extension and also the subtitle index in the file name as well as the delay in ms.
Anyway I did not use this sub file but instead I used subrip (it might be stupid to perform the job twice but I did not know what to do with this .SUB file),saved the file in scenarist format and imported it in scenarist.
Import was fine.
I generated the vob files and burn a DVD to test it
When I switch the subtitles on, strange things happened.
Some of the subtitles are displayed at the top of the screen, some at the bottom and they look like closed caption subtitles (I have in brackets the description of what's happening such as [wind blowing], etc...)
Also they are out of sync.
I guess it is because I did not set the delay
So my questions are:
- since the subs are out of sync, I might have to delay the subs by the value given by dvd decryptor after ripping, so how can I delay the subtitles in scenarist ? can it be done ? or does it has to be done in subrip since I think there is a time correction feature ?
- if I would like to use the .SUB file generated by DVD decryptor in order to be used scenarist, what do I have to do ? can I import it straight away or does it need to be converted ? if so, what tool is needed to convert it ?
- finally, what is causing the problem of subtitle being display at the top and the bottom of the screen since I set up subrip correctly in the position and cropping tabs ?
The movie is a PAL movie just in case someone is thinking of a solution for an NTSC movie :)
Thanks for your help
As usual it is much appreciated
