Hi,
I've just ordered my Pioneer A05 and I'd like to place an online order for some blank DVD-Rs. Unfortunately up in Canada we don't have much of a selection media other than Princo blanks for $4.99 or Brand names at Future Shop (our Best Buy) for $7.99-9.99. I noticed Rima.com is one of the only places that ships to Canada. I used the search function and found lots of posts on Ritek DVD-R being good but a lot of debate over the Light/Dark Purple bottom. The shipping cost is sort of prohibitive so I'd like to place a decent size order to save on per unit cost. I just would hate to order 100 discs from this place and find out they don't work. Anyway I can tell before ordering which type they are? Is there a different series number or anything?

Thanks,

gooki

Rima.com are good, and actually ship what you order (unlike other companies such as meritline etc).

I recently placed an order with rima.com after having some troubles with shop4tech. Fast shipping (got them a week after ordering) and perfect G3s (dark purple) @ 0.79 a piece, quite pleased. I got a tracking email about a day or so after placing the order. Prepare to get raped by UPS though with import charges ;)

Yup, Rima seems to be delivering quite well. I've ordered and received about 200 of the Ritek Inkjet printable DVD-Rs and they work perfect.

Synpase: What type of charge are you talking about for imports? How much a unit did it work out to for you? They quoted me $24 U.S. just for shipping.

i got raped with a 30$ import charge from rima.
WE NEED DISTRO CENTERS IN CANADA!! ARHHHHH
they delivered fast.. only 4-5 days wait.

Hypermicro offers cheapest prices, but they give you a 20$ U.S. sur-charge to ship to canada, plus regular shippings fee's. But the customs import charges for that was only 8$ or so. That was for a small 10-set to try out.

Ebay.. seller called "prestoshopper" sells at the most expensive prices compared to the others (e.g. 30$ U.S. for 10 4x Ritek), but the shipping so far was the cheapest. 6$ U.S. for shipping, and it snuck past customs. Im assuming that was the case since it was only a small 10pack in paper slips, bubble rapped, stuck in a envelope. Could easily pass as a letter or bill of some kind. Im sure if i ordered anything bigger, it would be alot more obvious.

I bought some K Hypermedia 4.7GB Genreal Use disks for 14.00 for 10. Worst disc I've ever bought. Skip, cough, pause, etc anywhere from 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through. ONly record at 1X speed and take about 2 1/2 hours on a Pioneer 4X burner to burn a movie, indicating something wrong!

Same movie burned on Maxell or TDK was a 2X and play perfectly. Even on DVD -RW plays perfectly. Burned with K Hypermedia, is the worst experience I've had with discs.. my 2 cents worth.
:D

Rima.com is a very good vendor. I've had nothing but good luck ordering Ritek's from them.
