The ripped VOB files play with the directors commentary. What do I need to do to fix this problem and play the regular audio ?

short question, short answer:
Load the ifo in DVD2SVCD, choose the audio stream you want, press go, burn the SVCDs, put them into your standalone player ;).

Doesn't matter what audio stream I pick I still get directors commentary instead of regular audio.

when you play the ripped vobs, as you described, or the final SVCD?

sometimes short is no good :)
So, once again, watching deeply into my crystal ball, I say:
1. The vobs you mention were ripped by a D2S approved method, right?
2. Could by any chance a "stripping" have taken place by a non supported ripper?
and (
drum roll...)
3. You know (Of course...) that trying to watch ripped vobs by , say, using Windows Media Player, will usually get you any sound BUT the one you want :)

@Arianos:
I assumed that he donīt know your 3) point. And Iīm quite sure that this is his problem, since he wrote

But of course you are right: most of the time more is better than less :)!

Arianos and winxi
VOB files ripped to hard drive before converting. I test these VOB files by playing them in several players ( Power DVD, WinDVD4 ). I do not use media player that came with my windows XP.
And I am using Internal Rountine to rip VOB files.

Ok, ok ...
If you have ripped using internal routines, your vob files are 99,999999999% ok, even if they do not play well (sound or otherwise) on WMP, PowerDVD, WinDVD etc.
Please finish the encoding following Winxi's original advice, and if there is a problem, then get back here. OK ? :)

Arianos, so I should not worry about the ripped VOB files. The end product should come out right ? I just didn't want to go through the converstion and watch the movie with Director's commentary or in French... lol.

If you really donīt believe start the conversion, and after the audio is finished (it wonīt take to long), play it to be sure. To be honest, I doubt that you know what you are talking about:
Doesn't matter what audio stream I pick I still get directors commentary instead of regular audio
Do you mean that you pick an audio stream in DVD2SVCD and directly afterwards you play the VOBs in WinDVD and expect them to play it with the chosen audio stream of DVD2SVCD?
greets, winxi
