I am using PrimoDVD to burn my VIDEO_TS folders. I ususally burn at 1x and currently use Verbatim dvd-r and ritek g03 dvd-r. I burned with the Riteks at 2x and took as long as if i burned at 1x. I set it at 2x and shows 2x but burned like i had it set on 1x. If i try to use STOMP and set it at 2x i get errors and then closes but PrimoDVD accepts it and burns it. Any ideas?

What firmware are you using? I noticed I could set Primo to burn at 8x, but it will only burn at the maximum rated speed for the media, as detected by the bios, and obviously the burner. Which, for Ritek, unless you're using the 2x4all or certain flavor of BIOS, is 1x.

If you think you have the right version of bios, try using the "Max" setting, rather than select 1x or 2x. See what the results are.

I'm at firmware 1.32. Still debating if i should upgrade to 1.4.

Well, according to the DVD-Recordable forum, they noted some 'trouble' with some media under 1.32. Maybe it was Ritek?

I use PrimoDVD with my A03 (I'm using 2.00 2x4all firmware) and burn at 2x no problem. Take 22-25 minutes for a full disc. Used to take 45-50, so I'm happy. And the discs read just fine in all my, and other friends, standalone players.

Does the quality of the pic look as good at 2x? I did xXx at 2x with verbatim dvd-r and it didnt seems as clear of a picture as other movies i did at 1x. Maybe its my eyeballs!

Must be your eyeballs (too much staying up late at night??) :)

I didn't notice any difference in visual quality, nor would I expect to. Since it's a file (or series of files) being recorded, it shouldn't be a problem. Skipping and freezing would be a better symptom, and many who have recorded at 2x on poor quality media have seen that. But I haven't (so far) on the Ritek G3's I've used.
