View Full Version : several CD-images when using FrameSelection
cinta

Hi all
I've used FrameSelection just twice, the first went fine, the second I'm stuck at it. I searched the forum but nobody seems to have had this question/answer posted so that scares me.
It happens now with this second try, differently from the first one, that I get a separate Cd-image to burn out of every part I selected with the FrameSelection tool, instead of having all parts together in a single image to burn.
Rings a bell with anyone?
Here is the log for anyone to understand since I'm not sure I'm really precise at explaining myself.
thanks in advance for any tip

Hello!
This encode went fine. Frame selcetion was not designed to join the resulting mpgs in the end. Each part of your frame selection is a seperate encode, for which you can define CD size and the number of CDs.
Frame selection is supposed to cut off the end or the beginning of a movie, or to define the cutpoints. Itīs also possible to leave some extra space on only one of the CDīs with frame selection. Itīs a very powerful option, but it wasnīt made to cut something out of the middle of a movie.
For this purpose you have to adjust CD sizes in frameselcetion and after the whole conversion join the mpgs manually (for example with TMPGEnc) and burn the resulting mpg as SVCD (for example with Nero). But note that this way you will loose chapters and title-, changecd, and lastcd pic.
hope this makes things a bit clearer,
winxi

You could use vcdeasy, vcdimager gui,..., to create an image with chapters.

thanks winxi
I wrongly assumed that FrameSelection would work like when you just took a chapter out of a movie with DVD2SVCD, that nobody would notice it. I'll try now your sugestion pasting all parts together and burning the final product.
Thanks again

Iīm glad that you got the clue! ;)
You even donīt need to join the mpgs. You can try to burn them one after another on the CD (with Nero as SVCD for sure) and your standalone will play it in this order. You will also have kind of chapters, since you can toggle between the tracks.

:( Hi winxi, i just tried but my mpg files are already gone. At the end of the process I've been left only with the bin/cue files. Before that there's just the mpv's. I know the mpg's should have been in between but seems they went because I hadn't checked "don't delete any files".
My question now, since have little joy starting all over again, is: What do you think if I go Recover and restarts only from Muxing and Cutting or should I restart from VideoEncoding?
Thanks for your time and interest

If you still have the mpvs and the audio files, recover from muxing and cutting should do the job. But i fear that in sum your files are too large to fit onto one CD.
So you will have to redo the whole process and adjust the right sizes of your mpgs under frame selection.
If recovering doesnīt work, you can try to mount the images with daemon tools. You will find your mpg there: "VirtualCDDrive:\MPEG2\AVSEQ01.MPG"

uh if you have the bin/cues you can extract the mpgs directly using any number of different programs...such as TMPGEnc, vcdgear, vcdeasy, or you can mount the image and copy avseq01.mpg straight from your virtual cdrom drive...no need to mux over again.

Isobuster should also do the job of retrieving files from Bin/cue.
