Hi,

I've just started with the wonders of SVCD so I'm probably doing something stupid so apologies in advance if I am.

I've ripped one chapter of a DVD and encoded into mpeg2 using DVDx 2.0 & the helpful 'DVDx Only Guide' (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdx-main.htm). I can play back the mpeg from my harddrive fine.

I then burn it to a CD-R using Nero 5.5 as an SVCD (I just drag the mpeg file into the MPEG folder & burn) & again can play this fine in PowerDVD.

When I play the CD-R on my standalone DVD player (a panasonic SCDM3) the sound & picture is incrediably choppy & slow running at about 1 fps.

The DVD player is able to play SVCDs (checked at www.vcdhelp.com) & so I'm at a loss. Any ideas gratefully received.

Cheers in advance.

Andee

This is just a shot in the dark - nero has given me problems before (but not this one, and I don't have your dvd player).

Download vcdimager gui from doom9's site (includes vcdimager) and use that to create your svcd disc image. Then use "burn image" in nero and open the resulting .cue file.

good luck
