View Full Version : Bye bye my compiler ^^

hi all,
i just wanted to mention some things.
1. i've put away my compilator. (not my brain ^^) so i'll stop to build new binaries or to devellop further my current plugins.
2. i've totally updated my homepage, you can get the last plugins i wrote on it. (unreleased : eDeen & atc)
3. i recompiled all of them for avisynth 2.5, please try to avoid any need to recompile them again, i'm not sure i will ^^
4. MPEG2Dec is now final (1.00), i fixed the repeating frame bug, and i don't see how MPEG2Dec could perform better.
5. voilą, it's done, i'm not a programmer anymore, but i'm still an encoder and a doomniner ^^
Bye,
MarcFD (as a develloper)
PS : i didn't say i'll definitively never program again, i'm to young to say that, i'm just gonna take long holidays away from C and asm (btw, trust me, never try to code in asm, it's a virus, it was difficult for me to get rid of it ^^)
PPS : i'd like to specially thanks Dark Angel (aka Dark Craker) for pointing me to avisynth plugins, and Dividee to make a lamer like me able to code what i did. without you, i would never have wrote so many avisynth plugins (i released only a little part of them). you're great ^^.
PPS : Dark Angel, when i started to write code 8 month ago, you proposed me to code a YUY2 WarpSharp version, but i couldn't, because i was really a big n00b, and even now, avery's asm code is so hard to read. but if you want, i'll do it, because i think it would be fun to end with this plugin ^__^

oh, a last thing, i'd like to thanks all the doomniners too, all the guys who help me with the user feeback. you know, i see now that devel is way easier as tweaking & using correctly the powerfull tool we have.

Sad to here that we lose you as a coder, but thanks for the work you did and 'Welcome' as a 'simple' user.

Thank you Marc!
For all your work and brilliant ideas.
Especially for CNR2 Avisynth portation and further developement,
since I use it nearly once a week...
Too bad that you give up developing here...
On the other side... - there is a real life waiting!

:( Sure it cannot be good, simple encoders or rippers are many BUT CODERS not much...surely for many of us wannabe coders that is some BAd news..
BUT LIFE IS GOOD..SO HAVE A NICE VACATION!!!:) :)

Only hope you leave us (as a programmer) for the reasons you give. I'd like to thank you for your enthousiasm. I know that some sometimes reproached you your lack of "rigour" (especially for docs ;)), but you are young, not a professional, so you are of course entirely excused (for me, at least :)).
We will miss you and your work (I tested it a lot... ...I should invoice you my time :D )
Bye and wellcome to the world of poor lonesome users
Salut,
FuPP.

Thank you for your contribution. I am glad to hear that you will continue at this forum. As you are pausing programming maybe you could improve or make some guides for the use of your filters.

let me thank you for your great work, your filters work just great!!
But according to my quote, I think you forgot to add "init2" to Cnr2 - could it be?? Because I got an error_message from the lastest avisynth_build that Cnr2 is not an avisynth 2.5 plugin :(
- regards Sill
P.S.: enjoy your 'free-time' as a forum_user/ not as a dev :D

@MARCFd,
Thank you and I hope you will be back once more!
I tried my hand at doing a compilation of a simple avisynth plugin,
but using gcc3/MingW rather than MSVC++. I managed to get it to compile and build a dll, but when I tried to call the plugin it could not be found. Finally, I traced to the fact that since avisynth has been compiled using MSVC++, MSVC++ must be used to compile its plugins, or the thing won't work at least for the moment. So perhaps future gcc and mingw will be capable of binary compatibility with regards to C++ dll's, or else an alternative would be to recompile avisynth under mingw/gcc but I would need to recompile existing plugins (since they would not be binary compatible)! I think I will wait to see if MingW does improve C++ binary compatibility with MSVC++ somehow. I did read that there can be a wrapper DLL somehow but this works with C and not C++.

MarcFD - tx for progs which is important.
tx even more for always being open which is even more important I think.
However, I agree with Don and others: you will be back...
The asm-virus is sooo virulent and, once in your brain, never completely extinguished.

Marc -
10x for all your very valuable and talented efforts here.
Pls don't stay burned out on this very long. And you'll pretty much have to come back because I think my next YV12 SimpleResize will be faster than your FastBiLinearResize.
Surely you can't allow that to happen. ;)

@All: Just look what great filter Steady brought with him when he returned from the monestary. I'm sure Marc will provide us with something awesome when he eventually decides to get back to the game:)

you've luck (because i'm not gonna compile anything again ^^), i'm sure it worked with avisynth 2.5 beta, should be a bad update. i'll try to see that before i loose my internet acces ^^. (in some hours now ...)

well, i archived all my dev stuff, desinstalled my compiler, i'll not compile anything for a while. but i know that when i would buy my first x86-64 cpu with brand new intructions sets, i couldn't resist to talk with the beast ^^. not before several months anyway ^_^

(you think that, he ? i didn't even optimised it to death ^^. good luck anyway ^^)

(sure i can, you guess ? ^^)
thx & bye to all
