Simple DVD copying/burning..?

Sorry for this n00bish question buut :)

I just want to put my original dvd in my dvdrom and the empty disc in my dvd burner and just burn and it shall work as nice and stable as with regular cdroms.. is there a program that does this today?

Only if your original DVD is single layer, unfortunately. Most DVDs being produced these days seem to be dual layer.

Sorry, forgot to mention, for single layer discs, you can do what you want by using DVD Decrypter in ISO mode (R and W keys). Doom9 has a guide for it.

I skimmed through the guides but I didnt find anything that seemed to match what I wanted.. ahwell have to check again..

Why is dual layers so difficult? do you think that in the future it will be as simple as I want?

Why is dual layers so difficult? Because there are no dual layer recordable DVDs and most likely never will be.

See above, most likely not.

In any case, on the fly copying will only work if your source disc is unencrypted and most DVDs are encrypted. There's no DVD burning software allowing you to decrypt and burn on the fly.

Don't give up so soon. It really isn't all that tough to back up your DVD's, especially if you only care about the movie. There are two free applications which are all you need, DVDDecryptor and IFO Edit. With these two, you can strip just the movie, rebuild the IFO files, and then burn to a new disk.

As long as you don't care about all the menus etc, it is only about a 5 step process. (and as long as the movie only is less than 4.3 GB)
