Please see if you can help me with this DVD2AVI problem...

Hi,
I have a VERY weird problem with DVD2AVI.
I am trying to make a .d2v file from the VOBs of the movie "Matrix".
Now, when I press F5 to preview the movie in DVD2AVI, there are a lot of scenes which repeats themselves, literally (you see the same thing twice in a row!). A scene never repeat itself more the one time, and not all scenes repeat themselves. I've tried to make the .d2v file anyway, and used it to encode the Xvid movie, but the repeating parts remained in the final Xvid movie!.

At first, I thought that the "Matrix" VOBs on my HD were ripped wrong, so I tried to play the VOBs from the hard drive through WinDVD, and to my surprise, they played flawlessly, not even on glitch. So this drove me to the one and only conclusion, that the problem lies in DVD2AVI.

I've downloaded the latest version of DVD2AVI 1.77.3, to no avail. I've also formated my HD and installed everything from scratch, I only installed DVD2AVI, still, to no avail (same problem repeats itself at the EXACT same parts of the film). This problem only happens with the "Matrix", when I tried to do a rip of "Face Off", it was 100% ok, with no repeating parts.

What could be my problem ?. Some people told me that this could be a problem with the multi-angle feature, but "Matrix" doesn't have more than one angle. Please, any help will be appreciated.

It probably is a problem with multi-angles. Try re-ripping the DVD with vstrip to be sure you have only one program chain available. This can be done from the HD if you have the ifo file.

Re-rip with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode, or SmartRipper in Movie mode. Either one will produce Angle 1 of the longest program chain. (Matrix -- at least the R1 version -- doesn't have multi-angle, but it does have seamless branching. Similar issues apply.)

It is very interesting though, I ripped dozens of movies, and Matrix was the first movie which gave me this trouble...

Is there anything I can do if I do not have the DVD anymore...

You may be able to use VStrip to extract a single angle from .vob files that are already on the HD. I've never used Vstrip for that purpose, but Doom9 has several guides that may help:

I did manage to use VStrip with no problems.
The only issue (if someone want to use this method in the future)
You’ll have to rip the subtitles and audio from the new VOBs or they will not be synchronize in the final movie.
