Can you help me?

I managed to find out with the infoedit program that the two Barney movies on the DVD belong to the first VTS_01_xxx set. Menu, intro and everything. So can I just copy out all the VTS_01_xxx files and the VIDEO_TS and all the other smaller files to a DVD-R DVD using nero and expect it to play? I did not include the other VTS_02..VTS_03...VTS_04 file sets.

I put the burned DVD in a standalone DVD player and it did not play, bits and peices played, then it failed and froze.

What did I do wrong?

I put all these files within the VIDEO_TS directory: I left these files as is, no edits using infoedit.

You need to get the guide for burning the movie only and use it with ifoedit.

The file default.pls needs to be deleted from your directory before you use ifoedit to get vts sectors. In the process you will also get rid of the file vts_01_0.vob.

It works like a charm. I've backed up over 150 discs using it.

If you do that, you get rid of all your movie menus. There could be a jump to root menu of Titleset 1 in First Play PGC. You would get a DVD file not found error.

I would just delete default.pls, DVDplay to test, and burn.

By the way,litlin, what method did you use in burning? I think Nero would have complained if it detects an invalid DVD file like default.pls.

Another pondering question, litlin, is where did you get that pls file?

When you use ifoedit to create a movie only DVD, the vts_01_0.vob file is done away with and there are no errors. That's the standard configuration for a movie only disc.

But you're right, there are no menus and no extras, which is just the way I like them, pop it in and the movie plays!

Hmmm...after reading litlin's post again, there was no mention that litlin wanted to keep the menu or keep movie only. My assumption is that litlin wanted to keep the menus since VTS_01_0.VOB was copied over initially. If litlin wanted the movie play first then a simple Jump to Title in First Play PGC would be inputted.

Both our ways work. The question is if litlin will reply back?

You're right, he wasn't very clear about whether he wants the movie menu.

The default.pls file comes from double-clicking a vob file and having powerdvd registered as the default player for that file type. It creates a default playlist in the same directory as the media file you double-click.

Yes, I want to keep the menu. How can I do this by keeping the menu, and having the menu work for the main movie and bonus movie (it is a barney dvd, LOL) but removing all the other stuff in the menu. The main movie is Title 1-chapter 1-13, The bonus movie is Title 1, chapters 61-90. IT seems the menu is Title 1-chapter 95. I dont need the other stuff. All this is in VTS_01_*.VOB

What is the exact title of your Barney DVD? Maybe my brother might have it so I can check it out.
