dv conversion

Hi,

I hope this isnt to far off subject,I have a camcorder and am trying to convert avi files to vcd or svcd via dvd2svcd but to no avail.I have downloaded Canopus_DV_File_Converter and dvcodec as suggested in avi hints.I was just wondering if anybody could help or point me in the right direction.
