Mulholland Drive (nandub)

Hi

this time i need some help...i tried to rip Mulholland Drive but i am experiencing heavy problems with Mulholland Drive. I am trying to get it on 2cds. But i get heavy blockiness, not the kind of blockiness you get if you have fire and fast scenes. It looks like if i would try to rip this movie to a size of 200megs...

Anyone got an idea ? I adjusted the settings a lot of times and i know how to handle hard movies...but this one is a riddle to me :confused:

Anyone experienced the same problems with that movie ?

Ummmm, this one is waiting on my harddrive but i checked it out and it is very similar to From Hell and The Others.
The previous were saved with the use of Convolution3d and ShadowSmoother (vdub filter. I got pretty good results with them, Divx311 has a huge problem with blocks in smooth and dark areas.´

So:

- Try avisynth yv12 and Convolution3d
- Use Mpeg2dec3 with pre-processing (cpu=4) and lumafilter() before resizing.
- Use ShadowSmoother in Nandub

There is an opinion that for avoiding blockage one should selectively add noise to problematic areas, personnaly i disagree with this method but if you want to use it go ahead, check the avisynth forum.

Plus using ShadowSmoother in Nandub your using Full Processing mode, so that's yv12 out the window.

Plus sid is so experienced a user with nandub sbc that he definitely should be able to find a solution for this tough situation by himself! ;)

Yes i remember, but even if YV12 is not used in Nandub and a colour conversion takes place it is still a good deal faster.
DVD(Yv12)> Avisynth and filters(YV12)>Nandub and filters(YUY2 or RGB)
And since i use AntiShit and thus Full Processing mode i can still use my Vdub filters in the end like Shadow Smoother.
I do have doubts on how this colour coversion takes place in Nandub but results seem ok to me.
