View Full Version : Weird Scenarist authoring problem

Hello,

I'll first try to explain what I'm trying to do here :)

I got this NTSC DVD with no subs.
I've downloaded the dutch subs in .srt format from the net.
Now I'm trying to get the subs in the dvd.

First I ripped the DVD to my HD.
Then I used VobEdit to DEMUX the vobs so I have a .m2v and a .ac3 file.
Next step is the authoring for wich I use Scenarist.
Now here come the problems:

* When I drop the .m2v file in the DATA rectangle it checks the video file, and the it gives a warning: "Number of SequenceEndCode is 0"
But Scenarist accepts the file so OK

* I drop the AC3 track in the data rectangle and all is fine here.

* Then when I double click the video file to see it's properties in Scenarist it gives me a very weird thing: the "DATA START TIME" is 00:59:58:00! Shouldn't this be 00:00:00:00
The "DATA END TIME" is 02:30:40:25

So on to the next step.
I drag and drop my video and audio files from the data rectangle to the Track Editor all seems fine here (exept the weird start time)
Then I try to import my subs wich I already converted to .sst subs and then I get the following error messages in Scenarist: "The subtitle start timecode should be bigger than background video start."

My guess is that it has something to do with the DATA START TIME but I'm not sure.

Anyone knows a possible solution to my problem?
Thanks in advance.

A lot of DVDs start at 0:59:58.00, this is to allow for 2 seconds "pre-roll". The movie itself will start at 1:00:00.00, and so should the subpictures.

OK thanks it works now!!!

Now this is a 2 dvd movie.
I did the first one demuxed the audio and video and reauthored with Scenarist with the subs.
DVD plays fine and subs are sync (woohooo :))

But with the second DVD I have yet again a weird problem :(
Did everything the same as DVD1, demuxed the audio and video and also reauthored with Scenarist and also with the subs inserted.

This disc plays also fine subs are sync etc. but about 15min before the end of the movie I get a video glitch and then the audio stops (video and subs keep running)!?!

I tried to play the original files on my hd and there everything is fine.
I also tried demuxing the audio and video again from the vobs but the problem persists.
Then I tried to play the .ac3 file seperately and it "sounds" to be fine.

Anyone have any clues?

Thanks again.
