heyas!

i just need to convert a divx (i have to...) to svcd, but dvd2svcd tells me that the frame rate (23.8...) isnt supported and will be changed.

okis, had no problem with that, BUT the audio wasnt adjusted. so the video and audio is async =(

what can i do?
thought over using virtual dub, but recoding the movie and rerecoding it again with dvd2svcd would mean an overall of 3 compressions...
well, 2 r bad enough (but no other chance)...

thx in advance

I know the feeling. Older movies were encoded with weird framerate. That totally blows when it's time to recode to svcd.
Follow this guide, it should help.

if im not mistaken, that guide is just to fix audio..his problem is with both the video and audio. here is what i would do.

convert your video to 23.976 (ntsc) or 25.000 (pal)...once you do this, find out the exact length of your video. Open up virtual dub and extract the wav file...using cool edit or some other sound editor, stretch the audio to the exact length of the video you found above...mux your new video and audio together and pass that into avi2svcd.

just woke up and got an easier solution (if it works ;P)

using avinfo and adjusting (well dejusting in fact, but in the end it should be perfect) the audio to 25fps...
now im converting with dvd2svcd as "normal"... hoping that all will be fine =)

anyway, ill report (in bout 12 hours grrr)

thx for ur help, maybe i will still need ur way (hoozdapimp) =/

You could also try this:

Use tmpg to change the framerate, save the project file and then load that tpr file into vfapi con. Use the file vfapi created to laod into cce.

I've used this with several avi's that have a framrate of 12 or 15 fps and it worked every time without any synch issues.

hehe, though it was the least complicated way it failed =((
okis....

This may help to explain it:

http://agzz.team286.org/Convert/divx2svcd.html

Start where it asks you to choose a video encoding program and choose cce.

That will tell you how to tmpg project files for cce. You can change the framerate in tmpg by simply loading the svcd template after your video file is loaded into tmpg.

Ok, here is another solution if others don't work.
First, using avinfo, adjust the framerate to the standards (23.9760, 25.000, or 29.9700)
http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/pictures/synk-it.gif
Note the streach %. Copy the numbers somewhere for later step.
Chick apply.
Then, extract the audio:

After that, open up Cool Edit:
http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/pictures/time-stretch.gif
And then enter the numbers you copied in earlier step:
http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/pictures/stretching-ratio.gif
Hit Ok, and start the conversion.
After that, you'll have a prefectly sync audio/video. All you have to do now is demux it back to the avi, and put it into avi2svcd.

Note: the pictures belong to "NICKY PAGE", they are not mine.

i thought you were converting an divx, which is an avi (not an mpeg). if your file is an mpeg, then you can't use avi2svcd (obviouslly!)

I don't get it. At the beginning, you said you have an DIVX. Now, you said you got a MPEG?
HUH?

ummm... dunno who got something wrong:
if i "change" the framerate in virtual dub (divx) it will be complete reencoded. after that i have to convert again in mpg. that would mean an overall of 3 complpressions (with more&moer quality lost).. i would like to keep it at the minimum (available for this case): change framerate/sync with one conversion (divx->mpg)

Hi-

dunno who got something wrong

You did.

if i "change" the framerate in virtual dub (divx) it will be complete reencoded.

No it won't. Open the .avi in Nandub. Set Video to Direct Stream Copy. Go Video-Framerate-Change To 23.976. Then Save As Movie.avi. It takes only a couple of minutes and is not reencoded. One reason you want to do this is to find out exactly how long to make the audio so it synchs with the new video length. Then follow the instructions above and strip the audio from the .avi, convert it to WAV and use a WAV Editor such as Cool Edit Pro to stretch it to the proper length and then mux with the video.
