I recently did this film, movie only on two dvdr. Disc 1 re encoded and disc 2 stripped (with credits cut).

I did the first disc via ripping m2v file and re encoding and then remuxxing. Pretty straightforward...

Now though I have thought about the subtitles, I kept them on disc 2 as part of the stripping process in IfoEdit but didn't do them on disc 1, I never really use subtitiles anyway, was more an experiment.

However, getting to the real problem, what I want to know is will the subs show up on disc 1 when Elvish is spoken, if spoken (not seen film)... Subs are selectable on disc 2 so I assume they will show when Elvish spoken on this part of movie.

I assumed the Elvish subs were hard encoded as a lot of films do this with specific parts.

Is there a lot of Elvish in part 1? Sorry if this is in wrong forum, just need to know if I must do the fim all over again.

there isn't a great deal of elvish in part 1, but it does help to have the subtitles, otherwise the flow of the film is slightly disrupted.

You don't need to do everything again, just rip the subtitles and combine with your new m2v/ac3 files in a new project

using subrip, i was given 2 subs to choose from - 1 in the 0 slot (english) and 1 in the 5 slot (english for elvish parts)

I'm in 2 minds now whether to bother as I already burned it and deleted the VOBS etc.:eek: Prob will though.

Not used to this sort of thing (pretty much a noob) but will it be a simple procedure, once I have the M2V, AC3 and Elvish subs again, then I could simply compile them with Maestro? I will be re encoding the m2v to fit if this makes a difference?

As I mentioned not really in need of subs but apparently I am in this film, as I don't speak Elvish...:D

just rip your authored m2v and ac3 files back onto HD - this will save you re-encoding (assuming you havn't used the capacity of a disc to the full)

you will need the original vobs to get the subs though

in maestro, make sure that you select the default play subtitle to the elvish translation subs

i went through a similar process - made a nice conversion with all the menus, watched the film and thought 'i've missed off the subs ere' - so just ripped the new files back to HD, combined with the subs and re-authored :) (fortunately that was for only 1 disc - always keep all files on HD until burn is successful now)
