View Full Version : PowerDVD - Trouble with AC3 Xvid playback

Hi,
I'm testing PowerDVD's playback with Xvid Ac3 files because I want to buy the Dolby Headphone decoder pack. But when I opened a xvid file with Ac3 stream, no sound comes out. The video plays fine, but just no sound. I have my audio set at the most basic, 2-speaker with stereo sound.

PowerDVD has sound with all other files I've tried, including DVDs, mpegs, and avis.

Anyone can help?

Thanks.

Hello Zinc,

Welcome to the Doom9 ;)

Try download the audiofilters.zip from Doom9's download page,
extract the files to somewhere and copy the mpgaudio.ax only
into your system directory,
for Win9x/Xp : Windows\system32
for Win2k : Winnt\system32

Run this command from your command line after you change to
your system directory: ie:
c:\windows\system32>regsvr32 mpgaudio.ax

Done. :)

Hi, I'm wondering the exact same thing as the op. I want to use the PowerDVD audio decoder for ac3 in XviDs for the decoder's Dolby Headphone feature. A google search brought me here. Where is this 'mpgaudio.ax' file?

Okay I download and registered mpgaudio.ax and in graphedit i see 'AC3 from AVI XForm' but it still leads to an audio codec that isn't PowerDVD. And when I remove that other codec PowerDVD still isn't used. It just doesn't use a sound codec. How stubborn.
