I can convert the video of a *mov (quicktime) file using TMPG but it does not convert the audio. any ideas?

You using the quicktime plugin for TMPGEnc? I use it and never had a problem with sound.

yes I am using the quicktime plugin and so I guess it must be something wrong with computer

I be the same as LeonMcNichol.
Try encoding the sound to WAV (I think Quicktime6 will do this) and work from there.

the problem could be that the audio is copy protected....which I don't think tmpg support....
I never found out what to do.....

Yes, some QT clips have copy-protection on their audio. EO Video (http://www.eo-video.com) can convert these with no problem, as well as RM, asf, wmv, you name it, in one package.
