question: effect of P4 HT on encoding [Archive]

Hi,

I just want to know if someone already tested the effect of Hyper-Threading on the encoding process.
Do cce and Tmpeg benefit in the same way? Or is there no effect at all?
Maybe someone who owns such a cpu can report or do a testing.

Yep I've tried it, it increases the speed by approx 0.1 to 0.2 speed (when encoding at DVD res, no filters, PAL) but at a price with the 3.06GHz, that is DVD2SVCD doesnt appear to like it, see http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42983 and http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40677&highlight=3.06Ghz

I will do some tests if you like to make sure, as this was just a quick test that I did to see if the problems with dvd2svcd were with the hyperthreading.
