first read:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43066

then read the forum rules, the guides, the FAQs and search the forum....

by then you should have gotten an answer to your question and if not so a general sense on who to post a question!!

to be specific:
use a descriptive thread titel
do reading before you post
get to know the customs of the forum
you are new to everything here ok so it's confusing but all you'll accomplish with posts like this is to get ignored by the more experienced users on this forum.

oh and to your question: you'll have to be way more specific when posting a problem like this. as you discribed it there could be a thousand reasons why your DVD doesn't work in your standalone.
so i'll just make a guess: probably you've mixed up the write mode ...

Well, welcome. We're usually nice. Killingspree got a little ...um ... frustrated .... because the title of your thread did not describe your problem at all.

There was a thread that started just before yours ... click on Rule 9 Alert (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43066) and you'll see why.

In regards to your question -- with today's technolgy, burned DVDs are limited to 4.7GB, manufactured disks can be "dual layer" and therefore can be 9GB. They actually glue two layers together at the plant.

You may get better suggestions if you describe the tools you're using. However, Doom9 has put together some guides to help get you started, such as:

Copying a DVD-9 to 2 DVD±Rs (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-2dvdrs.htm) and DVD-9 to DVD-5 "full copy" instructions (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/maestro2.htm). I found both of these in DVD and miniDVD Guides (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdr-guides.htm). Lastly, you probably want to peruse his section called The Basics (http://www.doom9.org/dvd-basics.htm), if you haven't done so already.

well i admit that it was not nice at all how i answered to your thread.

i just got a little frustrated, as jggimi said correctly. you know when reading through the noob forums there a lot of very, very similar questions as well as tons of useless titels.

anyway i apologize for being rude...
just don't say i didn't talk to you as a human, it was basically just some critics that i had to smash onto someone's had, and you were the unlucky one to happen to post the wrong thread at the wrong time.

video_ts.bup
vts_0.bup
video_ts.ifo
vts_01_0.ifo
default
video_ts (this is the start up of the film i.e who made it)
vts_01_0
vts_01_1
vts_01_2
vts_01_3
vts_01_4
vts_01_5

how big is the hole disc ?

the vts_o1_** are the vob files for your main movie ( all Of them ),
you will need the ifo and the bup files aswell or the dvd player wont play , these contain navigation details for you dvd player to read ,
vts01_0 is usually the menu and the rest are the main movie

hope this is some help to you

if the whole disc is under 4.37gb in size you can burn it straight back to disc

hi ,
1.Do you have your video_ts ifo file aswell as your movie ifo file
2.Does the intended movie play with Ifoedit
3.have you selected get vts sectors

if the above are true you should have a good structure to burn to disc.however it could be yous disc thats the problem ( cheap crap )
I dont burn with nero so I cant give you any advice on that.
One thing that bothers me you say that you wanted to copy on the fly, you can only do this if you were to copy from another dvd disc , which would have to be decrypted and only if you have two drives :p

hi haggis ,I think you have picked me up wrongly , I was not saying you were trying anything illeagal, copy on the fly means copying from one drive straight to another without downloading the files into the computer but you could only do this if you had 2 dvd drives ( 1 to burn)&(1 to read )

I take it you have a dvd burner :o

why would you want to merge the files ?

ifo edit is not that hard to get to work , I know thats very ignorant to say that but truly it isn't, there are various guides that cover it , try this one http://www.hkruse.dircon.co.uk
