View Full Version : Error in VIDEO_TS; Single PGC-CCE-Maestro method

Hi I have a problem creating a valid DVD after following Trilight's Maestro Single PGC method (movie k19 the widowmaker).
When I Update the original movie IFO with the maestro's authored ifo the DVD doesn't work. I can burn and play Maestro's output without menus, but not the updated original one with the menus and extras. I have followed the guide before without a problem.

Explanation:

I have followed Trilight’s guide for k-19 the widowmaker. When I try to burn the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders with Primo and Recordnow I get an invalid folder DVD structure error. I go ahead and burn without the folder check but the DVD will not play in my stand alone player.
There must be a mistake in the VIDEO_TS folder. This is a single PGC movie with extras. I have used CCE and Trilight's Maestro method. Maestro's authored VIDEO_TS folder will burn and play in my stand alone without a problem.
The problem is when I try to burn the original folder with the main movie's vob's swapped with the authored ones, and the original ifo patched from the authored one using ifoupdate. I do get VTS Sectors, and Ifoedit and powerdvd will play the movie without a problem.
Please note that the encoded file is small enough to fit all the extras unchanged. Therefore, I just replace the movie vob's with Maestro's, patch the movie’s ifo and then get vts sectors and try to burn. No burn. If I uncheck the pre mentioned option I get a disk that my player will recognize as a DVD but nothing will happen, no initial play or menu, just get stuck. Also my stand alone's timer is shown 00:00:00 (usually will show the length of the movie and start the DVD).
I have tried to change navigation commands to play the movie directly, and I have matched audio and sub streams between the authored and original ifo. Again powerDVD and ifoedit will play the disk fine. My stand alone will not!!!

I think this is an authoring problem and not a burning issue.
Thanks for the help.

My pre command was wrong.
I corrected that and the DVD played ok.

RecordNow still gave me an error trying to burn. By deselecting the option to check the VIDEO_TS folder format in Primo or RecordNow the disk was burned but did not worked in my strand alone!!!

The only way to make the disk work in the stand alone was to create an image file with ImgTools089.

Sorry for the thread.
Moderators please feel free to move it to the burning forum.
Thank you

I have been having a similar problem. I burned about 20 disks so far using Ifoedit and RecordNow Max but there are some disks that just don't play. They load into my DVD player as DVD and 00:00:00 is displayed. I try the same disk in my APEX or XBOX and they work fine. I think it's an IFO problem which my JVC player is being picky about.

The movies I am having problems with are ScarFace, Carlito's Way and Minority Report.

I have been looking in the forums for help, I am going to try something tonight with the First Play PGC and pre commands settings.

What did you do to fix the problem with your pre command?

Thanks in advance.

I think that you should try to make an image first and then mount it on a virtual drive. Then use recordnow to do a direct disk to disk copy. Burning an image with recordnow did not always worked for me. But the disk copy solved my previous problem.

BTW isn't the APEX a DVD player???

Yes the APEX is a DVD player.

I have found an alternate route and am going to try to avoid Ifoedit.

I have reauthored the movie Scarface using DVD Maestro and the movie works fine now. I have all of the files a DVD requires including the VIDEO_TS.VOB and VTS_1_0.VOB which IfoEdit doesn't make for you.

I believe the problem that I was having with IfoEdit is that it doesn't always correctly create the IFO files. Maybe it has to do with more complex movies or something.

I guess if Derrow ever gets back to updating Ifoedit and fixing bugs then I can start using it again. I think Ifoedit is a great tool with great intentions but just like any other software, there are always going to be bugs.

Until then, I think the authoring process is cleaner as I know exactly what files (video, audio, etc.) are being added to the DVD.

What options do you use in RecordNow Max? UDF or UDF w/ Joliet. I have seen the same results with both.

Thanks.

I dont know if this is the solution I have been asking for but sometimes when I do a full back up and then burn the video ts folder ,record now only burns the untampered with data . example

training day ,

shrunk the movie with dvd2one and make it easy method , update the ifo file and get the message "update successfull"

go to burn with record now max and it says there are 4.36 gb of data in the data line , burn and it only burns 1.6gb ( extras)

I will try and uncheck the dvd compliant box in properties and see if it makes a diffrence

has any one seen this aswell and if so is this the solution
