Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I have searched and read just about all the forums on maestro and can't seem to find an answer.

My problem is in backing up my Pal copy of 'I am Sam'. I have encoded the main movie using the Dvd decrypter, IFOUpdate, DVD2AVI, AC3 Corrector, Vfapi, CCE, Maestro, IFO Edit and IFOUpdate method as scripted by Jdobbs and it works fine. It is Multi PGC.

The issue is caused by the special features. The main movie has been encoded to 3gb and I don't want to reduce it much more as I don't want to compromise the movie quality, so I tried to encode the special feature which is 1.5gb to reduce it to fit both on the 4.4gb DVD-R.

I got the following from the IFOUpdate 'Multipgc-Maestro-readme.txt' file.

Chapter assignment information for DVDMaestro Playlists:
- Playlist #1 (PGC #1); [VOB Sector: 5]
- 00:00:00:00
- 00:00:50:06
- 00:03:31:00
- 00:11:34:14
- 00:19:25:15
- 00:31:49:00
- 00:39:47:01
- 00:41:26:10
- 00:42:31:17
- Playlist #2 (PGC #2); [VOB Sector: 15340]
- 00:42:32:04
- 00:45:12:23
- Playlist #3 (PGC #3); [VOB Sector: 54001]
- 00:45:13:10
- 00:53:16:24
- Playlist #4 (PGC #4); [VOB Sector: 175278]
- 00:53:17:11
- 01:01:08:12
- Playlist #5 (PGC #5); [VOB Sector: 297629]
- 01:01:08:24
- 01:13:32:09
- Playlist #6 (PGC #6); [VOB Sector: 494640]
- 01:13:32:21
- 01:21:30:22
- Playlist #7 (PGC #7); [VOB Sector: 624371]
- 01:21:31:09
- 01:23:10:18
Any unlisted PGCs have been determined to be nulls (dummys)
and will remain intact in the original file.

The special feature is only 42:26 minutes long, the precise length of PGC 1, so PGCs 2-7 are the special feature but broken down into smaller segments for you to watch. So in the menu screen on the TV you can either watch the whole feature (PGC1) or a small part of it (pgc2-7).

Is there any way that I can solve this using Jdobbs method or do I need to use seamless branching in Scenarist.

Any help would be appreciated.

Use the new version of IFOUpdate (v0.59) that was posted yesterday in this forum. It has a new "Adjusted" mode that was specifically built to handle this problem.

Thanks Jdobbs.

I tried to use it last night and run into an error with the PGC's.

I opened up the IFO in IFOUpdate and saved the new chapter file, then loaded this into Maestro with the Movie and AC3. I created the seven playlists (PGC's), PGC 1 containing all the files and 2-7 using their corresponding smaller points.

The problem I have now encountered is that after I have replaced the old VOB in the original movie with the updated and run IFOUpdate it is telling me that I have too many PGCs now, 8 instead of 7.

Could it be that IFOUpdate is not deleting the first pgc like the previous version?
