mpegdec vs. mpeg2dec2

If I do not have a Pentium 4 (I have a Athlon), I have some advantage when using mpeg2dec2 instead of mpegdec?

Is more stable mpeg2dec2?

If i want, Can I use mpeg2dec2?

I´m not sure. I use the "mpeg2dec2" instead of the "mpeg2dec", but i have an AthlonXP.

I think you shouldn´t have Problems with your Thunderbird, just rerplace the "mpeg2dec2"path in your avs-File....

I thought SSE2 optimizations work with both P4 and Athlon. That's the bottome line.

There aren't that many differences. Off the top of my head, MPEG2DEC2 has:

* Support for ATSC transport streams (HDTV files)

* A lot of SSE2 optimization for P4's

* Cropping support

* A few other minor optimizations and maybe bug fixes

I don't remember if there is anything else. And be aware that neither one of them will work with the new Avisynth 2.5 alpha release with YV12 support. You have to use Marc FD's MPEG2DEC3 for that.

Athlons don't support SSE2 instructions, which is really a shame.
