Real Media Encodes Ungodly Slow

I just got through trying to encode a real9 movie and it was 30 mins. I used AutoRV9 and the damn thing took 6 hours for a 30 min anime episode. I used 1 Mbit, sharpest picture, the two anime options and resized it to 640x480. Anyone got any ideas on how to speed it up? I ripped from a VOB and a WAV (used DVD2AVI project and Besweet to make the WAV).

Yes, do post your avs file. If your doing de-interlace + 2 filters and 640x480 it is going to be ungodly slow no matter what you use to encode. Convolution3D espically slows things down.

Make sure you are using the latest helix producer (from helix community) and are not doing any conversions to rgb.

Here is the latest Script, The thing that takes so long is The analysis part. It literally took 4+ hours, the actual encode did go at what I consider to be about right.

On a Side note though, the Video I got out from the encode was damn near identical to the origional, so I like the quality of RV9. Now if I can get some ideas on speed.

Did you started from a DVD? If yes, use Force FILM in DVD2AVI and use this script bellow ***.

You don't need deinterleace, and the 2D smoother / cleaner if yoyur clip is good quality. More filters you have, more CPU it will use.

Usual CPU usage:

Decode MPEG2: 20%
Filters: 30%
Encode RV9: 50%

In your case it was (I guess):
Decode MPEG2: 10%
Filters: 85%
Encode RV9: 5%

I guess i'm kind of out of the loop, but what's the difference between lancoz and bicubic for resizing?

To be honest, I am not real sure of the Technical difference. I have used both and I like the output of the Lancoz. To me it just looks better.
